About DavenportDavenport is a small town with about 2,000 people and is situated in Central Florida. It is located southwest of Orlando near Lake Tohopekaliga and Lake Marion. With its central location, surrounded by rolling hills and land that was once used for citrus growth, Davenport's central location makes it a perfect spot to base your Florida vacation.It is a very popular destination for tourist going to Disneyland, because of its close proximity. The town can be reached by plane, train and car and as it is such a small town, the easiest way to get around is by car, bicycle or on foot. Lake Tohopekaliga, or Lake Toho, as it is known by most Floridians, offers fishing, boating, camping, hiking and other outdoor activities. Davenport is the perfect place to visit if you are looking for a relaxing getaway, as there is not very much to do or see in the small town. The few minor attractions in the area include Lake Wales Museum. Historic Bok Sanctuary, Lake Kissimmee State Park or a few rounds of golf at one of the two golf courses the town has to offer. If you want to visit the beach, Tampa and the Gulf Coast are only one hour away, and the Atlantic coast is even less. Although there are a few stores in Davenport, most shopping is done in nearby towns and cities. Many of the most common national restaurant chains are in Davenport, as well as a few local establishments, including Davenport Café and The Pub and the 19th Hole Pub and Grill. |
